Many younger critics currently writing in the blogosphere have seen a much wider range of cutting edge/avant garde stuff than their DWM colleagues in the mainstream press. As a result they have a vocabulary and understanding that enabled them to engage with it in a way that was far more appropriate. That, I suspect, is why Andrew liked it, not because he is deficient as a critic.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4481691725314537521.post-76588725700691571672007-12-12T16:11:00.000+01:002007-12-12T16:11:00.000+01:00Have you considered the possibility that the NT's ...Have you considered the possibility that the NT's decision to use your review on their publicity says more about the quality of the production than yours as a reviewer ?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4481691725314537521.post-87900954976991596292007-12-12T13:28:00.000+01:002007-12-12T13:28:00.000+01:00Olly, that is true - particularly in Edinburgh - a...Olly, that is true - particularly in Edinburgh - and even in the wider theatre world, producers are increasinlgy referring to reviews websites like BTG or Culturewars. Otherwise your work as either theatre maker or critic will surely just dissappear up its own blackout.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
